Dr Ioanna Lapatoura
Dr Ioanna Lapatoura is a Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Leeds. She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Nottingham. She undertook research in the areas of intellectual property law, blockchain technology and fashion, for which she has been awarded a UoN School of Law Scholarship. She has previously taught Intellectual Property law at University College London (UCL), the University of Nottingham and Kingston University London. She holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in IP & IT law from the University of Sussex with Distinction, as well as a First Class with Honours Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Coventry University. Ioanna has been a guest lecturer in fashion law and technology at, among others, the Milano Fashion Institute, Brunel University London, Nottingham Trent University and the University of Szeged. Her research interests include copyright, trade marks and design rights, as well as IT law and the creative industries, with a special interest in the fashion, art and GLAM sectors. Some of the research projects she currently undertakes involve AI, copyright and trade mark law; fair use and the metaverse; digital assets and platform liability.
