The European Patent Office has announced the names of the fifteen finalists of the European Inventor Award 2018
Today, the European Patent Office has announced the names of the fifteen finalists of the European Inventor Award 2018.
The Popular Prize makes it possible for you to participate. Please take the opportunity to discover the profiles of the 2018 finalists as well as Films about them and vote for your favourite inventor.
With this prestigious annual innovation prize, the European Patent Office honours 15 scientists, researchers and engineers in five categories: Industry, Research, Non-EPO countries, SMEs and Lifetime achievement. These inventions have been granted European patents by the EPO and have made a significant contribution to technological progress, social development and economic growth in Europe.
The 2018 finalists come from nine European countries: France, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Switzerland, Poland, Ireland, Sweden and Denmark; in addition to finalists from the US, Brazil, Russia and Canada. These inventors illustrate the diversity of innovation in Europe, comprising large companies who are global leaders in their fields, dynamic SMEs and world-class research institutes and universities. Their inventions cover a range of technological fields including biotechnology, microchip lithography, automotive, toys and games, medical imaging and technology, renewable energy, material sciences, lasers and electronics.
The winners of the European Inventor Award 2018 in the five categories and of the Popular Prize will be announced at a ceremony in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (France) on 7 June 2018, and of course published on our website.
