Forthcoming speaker engagements with Athens, Leuven, Milan and Bocconi Universities

Over the summer 4iP Council will be speaking at the following conferences.
CRESSE Conference, Athens University of Economics and Business, in Crete, Greece, 30 June – 2 July
Robin Stitzing, Senior Economist at Nokia, a 4iP Council member, will be presenting 4iP Council’s paper on Lessons from Huawei v. ZTE at the CRESSE International Conference on Competition and Regulation organised by the University of Athens. This paper which has attracted strong interest from the 4iP Council community, was written by the Rt Hon Professor Sir Robin Jacob who is a former judge in the Court of Appeal of England and Wales and member of the IP Hall of Fame, and by Alexander Milner, barrister at Fountain Court Chambers and a specialist in commercial litigation and arbitration.
CRESSE is a network of international academics and professionals, practicing in competition or regulatory authorities, consultancies and legal practices, with an interest in competition policy and sectorial regulation. The CRESSE conference is now in its 12th year.
R&D Management Conference, University of Leuven,Leuven, 1-5 July
4iP Council member Patrick Hofkens, IPR Policy Director at Ericsson, will be moderating a workshop on 5th July on The role of IP and standardisation in building a successful and innovative Europe. At the workshop distinguished panellists (Bowman Heiden, Deputy Director, Centre for Intellectual Property Studies (Chalmers University of Technology, Bardo Schettini Gherardini, Director Legal Affairs in the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and Stefanie Mielert, Head of Legal Department at Fraunhofer Gesellschaft) will share their experience managing R&D and, in particular, they will discuss the obstacles that companies face when aiming to commercialise their results as well as the role of R&D policy and standardisation in developing an innovative Digital Single Market in Europe.
Transatlantic IP Summer Academy (TIPSA), University of Milan / Bocconi University in Milan, 3-5 July
Audrey Scozzaro Ferrazzini, Standardisation and Industrial Policy Lead for EMENA at Qualcomm will present 4iP Council’s work for second consecutive year at the Bocconi Transatlantic IP Summer Academy (TIPSA). This event, now in its 11th year, is organised by Milan and Bocconi Universities as part of their LL.M. in Law of Internet Technology.
Audrey’s presentation will also cover the Internet of Things, the relevance of standardisation for consolidation of new business models in this area and the interplay with IPR. Audrey will also cover the regulation of new technologies at the international level and IPSA’s "Challenge Competition project".
