Supporting SME growth - 4 Reasons 4 Design Rights interactive guide launched today
04 June 2020
Fourth interactive guide completes a series of materials developed to support European SME growth
4iP Council is today launching 4 Reasons 4 Design Rights, the final element in a series of four practical interactive web guides created to help innovative European businesses rapidly understand the strategic value of intellectual property. The guide identifies four key benefits of using design rights: exclusivity, commercialisation, reputation and value, and breaks these down simply into methods for value-creation with clickable case studies, orientation links, examples and facts.
4 Reasons 4 Design Rights was developed with content input from ASTP, EUIPO, The European IP Helpdesk, GRUR, INPI, INTA and IPAN. 4iP Council’s network of academics and IP practitioners also contributed.
This and our other interactive materials, case studies, research summaries and features can be viewed on the 4SMEs area of 4iP Council's website.
“ Before Covid-19, SMEs represented 99% of all businesses in the European Union and they contributed nearly 57% of the EU's GDP, employing 67% of the working population (1). The European Investment Bank reports them to be more susceptible to disruption, so raising their awareness now of the bottom line value of managing their innovations and creations is very important. SMEs that have filed at least one IP Right are 21% more likely to experience high growth afterwards (2),” said Axel Ferrazzini, Managing Director of 4iP Council.
This interactive tool will evolve with time to remain a long-term SME resource.
