Ruud Peters

Ruud Peters was the Chief Intellectual Property Officer and Executive Vice President of Royal Philips from 1999 to 2013. He managed the company's global IP and standardization activities during his tenure. Peters successfully transformed the IP organization from a cost center into a profitable global operation, providing full transparency on the return of IP investments at every business and product level.

After retiring, he established his IP consultancy, advising companies of all sizes on various IP matters. Peters currently serves on the advisory boards of several companies and institutes in Europe, the USA, Israel, and China. He is co-director of the Center of Intellectual Property (CIP), Gothenburg, Sweden, and is a Guest Professor at the School of Management of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. He has been a member of expert groups at the European Commission.

Additionally, Peters frequently provides expert insights in IP litigations. He has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the IP field, including induction into the IP Hall of Fame in 2010 and an Outstanding Achievement Award for lifetime contributions to the IP field from Managing Intellectual Property magazine in 2014. Peters has also been recognized as one of the top 300 IP strategists in the world by IAM Magazine for several years and as one of the top 300 Global IP Leaders in 2023 and 2024.
