Javier Guillem Carrau
Javier is fully immersed in Geographical Indications since 1998. Phd in Law on Geographical Indications and responsible for the topic in the Legal Service of the European Commission from 2013 to 2016. As said, his PhD thesis was published in 2008 “ Denominaciones geográficas de calidad. Estudio de su reconocimiento y protección en la OMC, la UE y el Derecho español” and edited in a second occasion in 2021 by Tirant lo Blanch.
He has also published academic articles in English like How much protection for Geographical Indications (GIs)? A jigsaw of case law is falling into place in the EU (2022) 44 E.I.P.R., Issue 9© 2022 Thomson Reuter. And just published An Insight into the EUIPO Boards of Appeal approach to GIs EU Law, (2024) 46 E.I.P.R., Issue 12 © 2024 Thomson Reuters and Contributors.
