Jari E. Vepsäläinen

Jari E. Vepsäläinen, Chairman of Fintrade-Mercer Group is a China trained attorney and has been actively involved as a strategic investment advisor and corporate lawyer in the People’s Republic of China for more than 36 years. 

Mr. Vepsäläinen is a graduate of the Classical College in Finland, received a Master’s Degree at University of Lapland in 1983, and was appointed a doctoral candidate and visiting scholar at the People’s University of China in Beijing and the Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou for the period of 1985-1988. Mr. Vepsäläinen served as Professor Assistant at the University of Lapland 1981-1983 and wrote his pre-doctorate licenciate dissertation on Foreign Investment in China at Sun Yat-Sen University (ISBN 951-640-423-5) in 1987-1988.

Mr. Vepsäläinen has served as Chief of Police and prosecutor in Finland and works as attorney for Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Federal Police for various confidential commercial legal cases, fraud and disputes in courts, arbitration and settlement processes.

Mr. Vepsäläinen has extensive experience in the strategic IPR protection issues, protection schemes, registration plans and best practices of IPR enforcement, registrability as well as infringement protection, counterfeit monitoring and enforcement. 

In addition to business organizations, Mr. Vepsäläinen serves various governmental organizations and international federations, and he is frequently invited to speak in professional China investment and technology conferences and seminars on Technology Protection and Intellectual Property Rights issues and available remedies in China in infringement cases.
