Dr. Niccolò Galli

Dr. Niccolò Galli is a Research Fellow at the European University Institute’s Centre for a Digital Society, a Contract Professor of IP and Competition Law at the University of Florence, and an attorney admitted to the Italian Bar.

His research lies at the intersection of innovation, antitrust, and intellectual property law, with a particular focus on policymaking and regulation in the ICT sector. He has published widely on these topics and has contributed studies for public institutions.

He received a joint PhD from the University of Augsburg and Maastricht University in 2023, graduating with the highest honors. His doctoral thesis, Patent Aggregation, Innovation and EU Competition Law, was developed within the EIPIN Innovation Society European Joint Doctorate, where he was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early-Stage Researcher. During this period, he was also a PhD candidate at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich. The thesis was awarded the 2024 Jacques Lassier Prize by the International League of Competition Law and the 2024 award for best research in intellectual property by the Italian Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (LES). Niccolò is also a member of ASCOLA, ATRIP, and LES International.
