IP Business & Intelligence Specialist, IMEC vzw.

A former Integrated Circuit Designer and Electronics Engineer by qualification, Deepak pivoted towards Intellectual Property Law when he was selected by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), the patent office of Singapore to be in the pioneering batch of Patent Examiners in 2013.

At IPOS he got formally trained in various aspects of IP Law by IP Academy Singapore, EPO and JPO and was actively involved in developing the process flows, drafting sections of the examiner guidelines and in benchmarking IPOS with leading offices like USPTO, JPO and German Patent Office (DPMA) during the formative years of Singapore’s search and examination unit.

Later he moved to Applied Materials a leading semiconductor processing equipment supplier as an IP Analyst and was responsible for patent landscapes, technology analysis, competitor analysis, freedom to operate (FTO), invalidity searches and patentability searches.

Since 2019 he has been with IMEC vzw., a world leading R&D center well-known for its expertise in semiconductor and nanotechnologies and based out of Leuven, Belgium. At IMEC, he is an IP business and intelligence specialist where his efforts have been directed to setting up and enabling a wide variety of activities within IMEC’s core semiconductor groups based on IMEC’s networked innovation mode.
