Alia Kahwaji

Alia Kahwaji is a Lecturer in Law at the University of East Anglia (UEA), where she also earned her LLM in Information Technology, Intellectual Property, and Media Law. She is in the final stages of her doctoral research at UEA, which examines the impact of AI tools on the patent system and patentability criteria through a socioeconomic lens. Alia has presented her research at several international conferences and contributed to policy consultations on AI and IP. Her work has been recognised with the 4iP Council Research Award and the Diane Rowland Award from the British and Irish Law, Education and Technology Association (BILETA) for the best postgraduate research paper. She is an active member of the Centre for Competition Policy (CCP) and co-leads the TechnoLawgy Collective Research Group at UEA, engaging in policy discussions at the intersection of law, economics and emerging technologies.
